Peddlers License

A Peddler’s License is a permit from the City of Lowell that allows a person to go door to door or place to place selling merchandise.  See Chapter 15, Article II of the Lowell Code of Ordinances for the specific descriptions of merchandise and mode of travel involved in this license requirement. Someone who sells Avon or Schwann’s products are examples of peddler activities requiring a license.

The license is required to regulate trade and occupations within the city.  A Peddler’s License application must be obtained from the Lowell City Hall. The application is then referred to the Lowell Police Department for a background investigation of the company and/or individuals involved in the door to door sales.

A Peddler’s License must be renewed annually and is valid for the calendar year in which it is obtained.
