Michael (Mike) Burns 
was hired to become the City Manager for the City of Lowell on September 6, 2016.  Mike previously was the Assistant City Manager/Economic Development Director for the City of Fenton, MI from February 2009 to August 2016.  Besides assisting with day to day operations, he was responsible for overseeing the redevelopment of Downtown Fenton.  Prior to that he served as a Deputy Sheriff in Macomb County from 2000 to 2009 working both as a corrections and road patrol deputy.  During that time, he also completed an internship in the City of Sterling Heights City Manager’s Office from 2006 to 2008. 

Mike has a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Public Administration Degree from Eastern Michigan University.  In his spare time, he officiates high school and collegiate football and high school lacrosse.  He also is a NFL Game Day Assistant to the NFL game officials assigned to Detroit Lions home football games. 

Mike currently lives in Lowell with his wife Jennifer son Nolan and stepsons Logan and Cohen.
